"THE DIRTY PICTURE " - Is really Dirty ;)

Dear People,

A very good evening. It's been almost 2 weeks since I watched "The Dirty Picture" and to be very honest, I have been so so amazed and shocked that I was actually searching for words to describe my experience. Like always I had some expectations, well, let's just say that I always have expectations from movies which have a good star cast. I expected a lot from "Ra.One" and although I appreciate the hard work behind the technology I was  still let down. I was keen on "Bodyguard" and believe me I was again let down. However in this movie ; "The Dirty Picture" I was pleasantly surprised and happy and really enjoyed the movie, and at the same time I felt a bit sad too.

Now - to sum it off ; -"The Dirty Picture" is a bio - pic on yester years cine star *(screen vamp / starlet)* Silk Smitha. I really didn't do my "wikipedia" on "Silk Smitha" but being the movie buff that I am I have a fair understanding of the sleaze type of cinema that is made down south, mainly in "Tamil" and "Malayalam". Then again I have never ever seen a complete Southey film ;). However my keen interest in "TDP" was mainly because of Milan Luthria. I loved his "OUATIM" which I think is a cult film of its time. The precision in which he narrated the whole story and the detailing of the script was just brilliant. And now his second venture with a neat and tidy script that has a different narrative and a different story. Milan was conscious to make this movie ; "The Dirty Picture" a movie that was woman centric. He has included all the nuances of a tortured mind, the hunger for fame and fortune and the desperation which many youngsters have in todays day and age. "The Dirty Picture" is a tragic film, the characters are scripted with a high emotional value. The casting for this movie has been just brilliant and the ensemble star cast have performed to their optimum levels.

First of, the hero of this movie is not Emraan or Nasser or Tushar - it is "Vidya Balan". She has always been a great artiste but I am guessing like the rest of the talented actors and actresses she never got the opportunity to show her skill set of an actress after "Parineeta", Vidya has done it this time with her acting prowess. She has revealed that she is a superstar and definitely an actress of class. The movie is no doubt bold and sensuous in parts but then again that is the story. The 80's has and always will be famous for the sleaze and the jhatkas of the heroines...hahahaha. And now to comment about Nasseruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi - because both these actors have supplemented Vidya jointly in her performance. Nasseruddin Shah is phenomenal actor and I don't have the calibre to comment about him because he is just super. The fact that amazes me is that he keeps surprising the audiences with his artistic capabilities - hahahahah. Emraan Hashmi has tamed and trained himself as a good actor. His performance in this movie has made him a rock star too. On the whole "The Dirty Picture" is a story about emotion, love, betrayal, fame, success and the craziness of stardom in the industry. In all right this movie is a drug that will just give you that nasha that very few films can give. Oooh laa laa, Oooh laa laa !!!

Watch this movie just over and over again - you guys might go to watch it for the sleaze but you guys will walk out with a heavy heart and feel sorry for "Silk Smitha".  Picture hit hai becoz yeh picture toh fit hai boss.

Cheers :)
Soveik.
