BLUE - GOOD SHOW !!!
This past "Diwali weekend" was good fun and definately, action filled at the cinema. I am sure many people will agree with me that Indian Cinema overal has gone through this major transformation where by camera techniques and the use of VFX has changed the entire look of a film, and the concept of film making. At the same time other additives such as good costume and the use of a good "color" in the form of sets and background makes today's cinema a sheer shot visual delight.
However, at the end of the day Cinema is all about story telling and as the norm has it, no matter how good a script maybe it has to be narrated by actors who have a mass market appeal and star value which makes the whole process of filmaking a joyous ride and in effect makes people utter the phrase "Magic of Cinema".
BLUE - is a hardcore star power filled movie which has all the marketable attributes of an action entertainer. First of - "the story" has a predicatable plot which in effect becomes even more predictable with cliched dialogues and already used scene situations. It is quite obvious that Akki has a grey shade to his role and that he is a master plotter, Sanjay Dutt is a benovolent sailor, Lara the faithful girlfriend and glamour quotient in the film while Zayed Khan is the young impulsive youth who loves to live on the edge. The film is about surreality and the Anthony D'souza's imagination as a director is wild enough to be seen on a the large 70mm screen.
Now, one would think that BLUE is not at all a good watch, to be honest it is a visual delight to watch because it is a movie that is shot entirely just like a Hollywood Production. The underwater sequences are shot marvellously, and so are the action sequences on bikes as well as the traditional car chase with the help of "VFX".
BLUE has a loose script with many loopholes and 1 - 3 scenes are a frame by frame copy of popular Hollywood thriller's like "The Fast & The Furious" and "Hitch", but even then the film works because it is a fast paced action thriller which has some good convincing performances by each and every actor. BLUE is surely a good experience to watch out for, for those who want to go for a good storyline let me assure you that you are going to be dissappointed but nevertheless go and watch the movie because it has a grand attribute to it which can only be appreciated and does have that marketable appeal to SELL.
Definately do watch it guys !!
Cheers Soouviek :)
