Bangali Biye Bari & Bou Bhaath !!!
Dear All –
As the name suggests I have been severely intoxicated with this whole wedding gala event. Oh well the reason for my no show was because I was attending this family function in my native town of ; Kolkata, West Bengal. Honestly – this might sound just mad and weird but I have never ever been to a wedding before this, and thus this was first one, that too of an elder brother ; god brother to be more precise. Weddings I have heard that they are mad and gaudy with decorations just didn’t think that the magnitude of this one that I have attended would have been so awesome. I am not sure if you guys have come across any other eccentric bengali apart from me. We bengalis are one hellava a surprise lot, especially when it comes to food, beverages and also criticism. Hahahah – trust me I know this, it’s just mind boggling to me to find so many bengalis who just go gaga over biye baari preparations and also don’t leave any opportune moment for criticism. But have to admit that the whole pride and honour that both the brides side of the family as well as the grooms side of the family has is just phenomenal and touching really.
I have had the traditional maacher jhol, khausha maangsho and a lot of misthi with an abundant supply of alcohol. Feels good but weirdly so my interactions and inuendos with life’s experiences of relationships have not enabled me to touch base with anybody whom I can rest my hand on and ask for a partnership…actually scary thought – yikes!!!
Have lots to say about "No Problem" and "Band Baaja Baarat".
Cheers –
Soouviek.
