"2012 - A Final Wrap Up !!!"
Hey Guy's,
Good morning, namaste and salaam and as promised I am back to the blogosphere with my write ups and feedback :) - please do keep your comments and suggestions flowing through. "2012" has definitely been an exciting year for hindi cinema ;) for me - its been the best movie watching experience ever, like always. Now, without much ado let me be as short and to the point as possible.
"Dabangg 2" - One cannot ask for a better wrap-up for the year; "DABANG 2" *(I have to admit that Dabangg 1 was way better than Dabanggg 2 and I guess this is the case with most of the squeals, they are always less entertaining and less fun filled)*. I am beginning to feel uneasy with this stride of "masala entertainer's" is becoming a bit of drag, having said this the man who can perhaps manage to break the monotony of masala films, and that too with style, panache and elegance is non other than Mr. Chulbul Salman Pandey Khan :) DBNG 2 has some excellent songs, brilliant action and great cinematography, convincing performances from the ensemble star cast to cover up for the lack of story telling and flimsy script. Business wise this movie is going to garner huge profits as the film has been strategically released at a time time of a year when most people are in holiday mood, at the same time there is no big release coming about up until 25th January 2013 - thus the producers are going to mint money. Salman Khan has acted well and he has become very conscious with his character delineation which is a good thing, Sonakshi Sinha is great potential and she should do more meaty roles - honestly ; I love "Sonakshi" - hahahah. I am sure that you all will like this movie especially if you are watching this with family or friends. Watch this people, its fun.
"Talaash"- Probably one of the most anticipated movies of 2012, Aamir Khan has definitely raised the bar for himself after "3 Idiots" and thus expecting a replication of 3 Idiots is not always possible. I have heard some opposing views about "Talaash", however I am going to stick to my view of "a brilliant" film and "good job" done by Excel Entertainment. The movie has all the necessary details of a Aamir Khan film - the movie stands out because of a different and original narrative, but then again there is a sense of vagueness in the movie. There was something missing in the film, thus, this leaves audiences confused. I guess this is something that probably makes this Aamir Khan filum a 1 time watch. Kareena Kapoor enacts the role of a ghost, she has performed phenomenally well and Rani to compete's well in her convincing role of a hassled policemans wife. The movie does not give the other ensemble starcast too much scope to perform as this is an all out Aamir Khan film. The movie although boring in bits has a good sense of cinema which leaves crowds and audiences entertained. I am sure and have no doubts that Excel Entertainment will make a lot of money from this movie :).
"Jab Tak Hai Jaan" - A shocker of sorts especially with the untimely death of Mr. Yash Chopra. The film will always remain as a tribute / Mr Yash Chopra's last gift to the Indian film fraternity. It does sadden me to actually be typing this, that "Mr YRF" himself is no longer alive. The man, the legend, the creator of shiffon saree clad actresses is no longer with us. Although in his last film, the movie gave me the feel, that Mr Chopra compelled himself to a directing job after a hiatus of almost 7 years. The movie as many of you know has been a roaring success, however, I feel that this is due to the passing away of Mr. Yash Chopra. The story and script of the film is weak, with plenty of over used cliche. The movie rests on 3 of the super stars shoulders, namely ; "SRK", "Katrina" and "Anushka Sharma" who have all, performed well to keep audiences content with their movie watching expereince. The movie boasts of some mind blowing cinematography, brilliant locations and a fantastic view of London. The stunner throughout the movie is Anushka Sharma who is a dynamite that just lights the screen with fire every time she comes on. Mr SRK - has revealed the reason why he is the magnetic super star, however his performance was not that convincing especially when he delineated the younger "Samar" in the film. I loved the movie cause of the eclectic music composition from AR Rahman and Mr Chopra, this is a 2 thumbs up :).
"Student of the Year"- A typical Dharma production which contains all the usual additives of glamour, opulence, amazing styling and a good looking star cast. Let's face it, after all it is a "KJO" film and he is the same "KJO" who gave the industry "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" which had a different and modern form of story telling that changed cinema for indian audiences world over. Ever since then "Dharma" have just kept on pushing the envelop of experimentation with films that have definately carved a niche for themselves as a movie production house. "SOTY", is a typical KJO film because if one were to keep Karan's sensibilities in mind, he has again focussed on making a movie that will reach out to the urban youth of India, the movie is entertaining throughout, as there are many realistic situations in the film which many audiences can relate to as relatable instances. This by itself reveals tha the script was written with marketing mechanisms in place. Contemporary dialogues and contemporary music makes this movie a wonderful experience. As always Karan has used locations, brilliant sets, amazing costumes to highlight his characters out and give them the larger than life image. Varun Dhawan is 100% Mr Bollywood - hahaha, Alia Bhatt is quite impressive with her abilities as an actress, Siddharth Malhotra is a dud - he according to me needs to take a lot of acting lessons :) - ahahah. In the end a good movie watching experience.
"Chakravuyh" - A typical Prakash Jha film which encompases the issues of India that are clearly left unattended. However, this time the location of the story as well as the story itself is about the Maoist movement in India, espcially the present day and past day stories of the maobadi's in neighbouring villages. I personaly applaud the creative brilliance of Mr Jha, he has this ability of fine story telling through his direction and he keeps stories quite simple and uncomplicated. The ensemble starcast have performed well, always a pleasure to see Manoj Bajpai, Arjun Rampal and Abhay Deol give stellar performances. Definately zaara hatke type of a filum :) which deserves to be a watch at all times.
