"AGENT VINOD" - Not bad for a Wannabe BOND..
Hey Guys,
As the IPL season is on and the day's of lethargy have over taken my natural prowess of writing, I have still found myself to be amazed and astonished with cinema and masti - haahahah.
"AGENT VINOD" - I saw this movie during the first week / actually the first day it released here in Dubai. Apologies for the delayed review / comment's. I am sure that by now a few of you ardent movie goer's have already seen this film or perhaps decided not to see it - as the choice is entirely yours. As you all are aware that I love all aspect's of bollywood movies especially the ones that tend to be different or at least appear to be different during their television promos. Agent Vinod, is Saif Ali Khan's answer to the west, that we *(in India)* can produce BOND films as well. International espionage films have always been an interesting topic but then again the the plot's and premise have to be differentiated almost all the time and this becomes difficult due to repetition a narrow window of creativity with this subject matter. Agent Vinod does deal with an interesting premise and plot as the films does hit out to the whole concept of "secret society" & "Illuminati", however even then this aspect is just a small mention in the screenplay and story and thus the film remains quite vague. Usually international spies always pulls out the plugs out of the bad guys during the ending ;) - hahaaha. The original concept of this still remains with the father of espionage ; Mr. Ian Flemming aka "James Bond". Ian Flemming was a secret service agent himself and 007 James Bond was his field name. Rarely do people read about RAW agent's and rarely are there writer's who have written stories or novels about RAW agent's. Agent Vinod is a RAW agent who visits international countries to fend the foes of India. The film has a loose script and this is evident from the first frame itself. However the movie is watchable with a good degree contentment because some of the technicalities in the film are really good. The cinematography is crisp and clear. The action sequences are high octane as required by the script, and the soundtrack is super. The love story between Saifu and Bebo is short but sweet and the antic's done by the villains in the movie are real like. Although these technicalities do help a movie to a certain extent but it does not ever guarantee a box office success. The ensemble star cast is quite formidable with stand out performances by Mr. Saif Ali Khan and Mr. Dhritiman Chatterjee. So guy's the verdict is that this movie is a bit slow and definitely doesn't strike the chords of audiences although "pyar ka pungi" does strike the ears.
Watch it on DVD during a lazy day :)
Cheers ;)
Soveik.
