"De Dana De" - Total Masti.
Woow – it really feels fantastic to be back here on the so called blogosphere. Well first of I haven’t been able to see the so called legendary films “2012” and “AVATAR”. Now, that does not mean that my appetite for Hindi cinema still keeps my passion alive. Heheheh. I watched De Dana De a while back, and not just that I am a cinema buff I liked the movie for the hilarity that it maintained consistently throughout the film. To be honest the movie is not a brainer really. It has common topics of oppressed love, desperate measures to survive in the business world, but all these are a mere background to identify the relevant characters. It’s interesting to see how a luxury five star hotel in Singapore also played as the silent host in the movie. The music is quite foot taping and offers some nice humming tunes, which I am sure is already a big favourite with the audiences worldwide. The movie does not drop pace because the ensemble starcast performs with a level of brilliance which is expected of them. Paresh Rawal was a little over the top but the rest of the actors where just perfect. I guess that’s why the movie worked even when many renowned critics have shot it down. The entertaining element in the movie is high and thus the uproar of laughter was naturally heard throughout the theatre. Priyadarshan’s knack of making movies with a subject matter around confusion is quite remarkable as this does make audience realize that confusion’s in real life in any circumstances can be quite funny, had any other film maker approached this they would have made a mess out of the film and the script. The single driving factor in the film is the ensemble star cast and the brilliance of their performance. Each frame shot by director Priyadarshan does not fail to seize the attention of the audience and does not try too hard to make the audience laugh.
The script is not an intellectual one and does not deserve to be written off by critics because the film is an entertainer meant to entertain the masses and have a good feel. The exotic locations of Singapore are something that adds value to the film and works towards the look of the film. The film is a watch because if anyone is feeling low or depressed then they should go and watch this movie because laughter is good and soothes peoples mind and heart. I hope Akshay Kumar starts thinking out of the box because he is getting type casted in these comic roles and keeps repeating the similar avatar’s in most of his present day films. Although his performances are flawless and does not give a chance to be criticised he has to step away from the mould to redefine himself more often with films like “Tasveer” and “BLUE” where his versatility as an actor can be seen, perhaps the audience don’t like him in that form because they did not take to these respective films. However coming back to De Dana De – it’s a good watch for everyone and should be watched by households throughout. I know well that people involved in this project is going to or already have made their share of profits.
