"Gangs of Wasseypur" - Superb !!!.
Hola People,
Bonjour, Guten Morten, Namaste, Subh brobhat - & Good Morning. I know many of you out there keep asking yourselves as to why the disappearing act !!! Unfortunately, writing is a hobby and working is a paid job - I wish working was a hobby and writing was a paid job - I would have been lot more happier. I know I am late with a number of my reviews but I had to wait on this one as this is a 2 part film.
So to start of "Gangs of Wasseypur" or “GOW” as the acronym suggest's is one helluva production that takes its audiences right into the heart of the Bihari political scene, which I am sure many of you out there know is gross, sick, crude, crass and perhaps dirtier than dirt. For a change, I am not going to go in an indepth analysis of this movie because it is something I cannot do. I simply cannot comment on a director who according to me is above "brilliant" / above "superior". I have watched many of Anurag Kashyap's films and once again he has out done himself and given himself more competition. I am always alarmed and in awe of Anurag's depiction of reality through his films. The films are always hard hitting and a super duper success formula because he always makes sure he has the best cast. The actors are all perfectly immersed into their roles and they almost make you feel that they are the characters. By far "GOW" is probably Anurags best films to date. Manoj Bajpai who is the male protagonist in the film has out done himself this time. He is magnificent as a horny gang lord, his character delineation has been apt and grand. He has played his part with his integrity to the role and script intact.
All I can say is that if "Gangs of Wasseypur" was this brilliant then I can only imagine as to what "Gangs of Wasseypur 2" will have to offer.
So without much ado - please do go and watch this cracker :)
Cheers ;)
Soveik.
