"Tere Mere Kahaani " - Fine stroke play by Kunal Kohli.
Hey People –
I am back as promised with
my reviews / views on “Tere Mere Kahaani” - I am not sure as to how many of you
guys have actually watched this movie. If you guys have watched the movie and
have not liked it then please do not read my write up – if you have watched
this movie and liked the film then I am sure you will agree on quite a number
of my view points. At the same time if you have not seen the film then please
do go ahead and watch it as it is really good.
“Tere Mere Kahaani” – is
a quintessential love story from a film maker who by himself is soaked and
drenched in the emotion of love – and his films stand testimony for immense fascination
towards romance. The films theme deals with “love” and the “feeling of love” is
eternal and doesn’t change with time. In other words when you love someone deeply
that person will always be there for you no matter what happens. Kunal Kohli
has done a wonderful job in decoding his idea and plot and incorporating this
into a script and screenplay with brilliance. The first part of the movie has a
backdrop of Mumbai / Bombay of the early 1960’s and this – is amazing. I have
been a history buff for many years now and movies of that era have always
attracted me – I really don’t know what it is but even till date when I watch
movies from the 60’s or 70’s its just enchanting. Kunal Kohli has actually
managed to recreate this enchanting and fabulous feel through fantastic art
direction. Priyanka and Shahid have performed tremendously well with a
performance synchronization that gives audiences an endearing feeling. The 2nd
part of the movie is the modern age story of love, friendship and flings – this
part made me nostalgic as it was shot extensively in Nottingham – although I
don’t remember the names of the streets but I surely can remember the vivid
imagery at the back of my mind’s eye. I loved this part as well because the
spontaneity in which the characters interact with each other was super cool and
subtle and yes! Piggy Chops looked fabulous ;). The 3rd part of the
film is set in a village of Punjab of the pre- independence era; this was my
favourite because the dialogues were all sher and shyari which had a certain
comic touch to it, Shahid performed brilliantly in his role in this part of the
film. It was outstanding to see Kunal Kohli execute this part of the film because
both Priyanka and Shahid are modern age style icons and for them Urdu is not a
daily language that they use, to perform with the perfect addah’s and diction
one needs to be perfect.
The culmination of all
these 3 part’s come about with the message that when in love – it is always
pure and honest. On the performance
angle the ensemble star cast have done very well. Particularly the main star
cast of Priyanka and Shahid. Kunal has done a good job on the casting because
had the casting gone wrong then this movie would have been a disappointment. I
know well that the box office figures have denoted this but then again I am
confused and highly saddened because a movie like this which is light hearted,
amazingly shot and superbly entertaining should have done well at the box
office. I guess sometimes some movies just have some bad luck. Shahid has been
an evolving actor and he has really performed well, Priyanka is someone I have
loved so I am always going too biased towards her – hahaha. The music of this
film is really endearing.
All in all guys – WATCH
THIS BECAUSE IT IS A REFRESHING FILM ! ;)
Cheers :)
Soveik.
