RANN -

Well guys - I think it would be safe to say that although RANN dabbles with a real life situation of the constant media power struggle and hunger over TRP's is not just a make believe screenplay or movie, because these days everyone is hungry for the limelight. Now!!! I am not a media personnel but the movie did have this realistic appeal which really touched me personally. The characters have all been well crafted to fit the script. The authenticity of the situations is something that was possible due to cinematic liberties but then again the backdrop or the nemeses of the situations were based from the reality, thus, an element of surrealism is quite prevalent throughout the movie. RANN speaks of the escapist nature of politicos, industrialists and power hunger professionals willing to crumble principles and morals to climb the top of the ladder. I am definitely not going to rethink any NEWS as false when it comes about to me but one can relate to the corruption that poses inherently in our society. What makes RANN work in accordance with the ensemble star cast is the ; - “script” which by itself is quite gritty and sleek.

On the acting front the casting has been done well. The only people who probably stand out in the film are Paresh Rawal, Rietesh Deshmukh and Amitabh Bachchan. Off late I am not sure about the rest of you guys, but Mr. Bachchan has been carrying on the corporate sort of a character for a long time. It seems that if he doesn’t get a suitable role such as a BLACK, CHEENI KUM or more recently PAA – then he would rather slip on his Gabbana tailored suits and act like a corporate. The rest of film moves well with a delectable performance from the ensemble cast of Rajat Kapoor, Monish Behl do a great job of carrying the film forward. I really don’t know why Neetu Chandra and Gul Panag have been signed on the film as the movie and role have not done justice to their acting talents. The movie although well made and definitely a waking up sort of cinema is going to sell just because of Mr. Bachchan, however his acting prowess is becoming too saturated and monotonous.

Watch it guys its a feel good film.
Cheers -
Soouviek ;)
